Beyond 67 Minutes

“It is in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it.” — Nelson Mandela
Mandela Day is more than a date on the calendar. It’s a reminder that every one of us has a role to play in building stronger, fairer communities.
At Lesedi Solar Park Trust, we take this to heart. Our work is driven by a strategy built on four pillars: Education and Capacity Building, Health and Welfare, Enterprise Development, and Social Infrastructure. Each one speaks to Madiba’s vision of dignity, opportunity, and hope for all South Africans.
Education and Capacity Building is at the core of sustainable change. Whether it’s supporting early childhood development, improving school resources, or offering skills training, we aim to open doors that stay open for life.
In Health and Welfare, we recognise that people can’t thrive unless their basic needs are met. From healthcare initiatives to social welfare support, we focus on programmes that promote wellbeing and resilience.
Enterprise Development is how we help communities grow economically. By supporting local businesses and creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, we want to ensure that people can earn a living and invest back in their communities.
Finally, through Social Infrastructure, we work to improve the places where people live, learn, and gather. Through collaboration with other funders who have built infrastructure, we believe good infrastructure underpins healthy, connected communities.
On this Mandela Day, we’re reflecting on how we can deepen our impact. While we don’t have a specific activity planned yet, we’re exploring ways to partner with our communities and local organisations to honour Madiba’s legacy meaningfully.
Because for us, Mandela Day isn’t just about a single event, it’s about carrying forward the spirit of service throughout the year. We believe every day is an opportunity to work towards a society where people can live with dignity, hope, and possibility.
Madiba said, “It is in your hands.” At Lesedi Solar Park Trust, we’re determined to keep using our hands and hearts to help build a better future for all.
