Bringing hope to Tsantsabane

Through an inspiring collaboration between the Lesedi Solar Plant, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust and Kolomela Mine, the Tsantsabane Centre of Hope (TCH) is now positioned to make an even greater impact on children in our community. Established in 2019, TCH began as a grassroots initiative, operating out of the home of one of its founders, with a commitment to providing support and care for children in need. Despite limited resources, the team has consistently delivered a safe haven and after-school support to children in the Tsantsabane community.

Earlier this year, the Lesedi Solar Plant, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust and Kolomela Mine joined forces to bring a transformation to TCH, enabling it to continue its mission in a safer, more suitable space. The Lesedi Solar Plant provided a critical boost by supplying a new structure (a container) and toilets for the centre. Building on this foundation, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust contributed essential utilities, including a generator and a JoJo water tank. The fencing was successfully erected through a joint effort by Kolomela Mine and The Lesedi Solar Plant.

This collaboration has culminated in the creation of a clean, secure, and functional area that allows TCH to expand its services and reach more children. With a proper facility in place, the possibilities for TCH are endless, as it now operates with increased capacity and efficiency.

“This new area is a beacon of hope for us and the children we serve,” said Marilyn Hael co-founder of TCH. “We are deeply grateful for the support and commitment from the Lesedi Solar Plant, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust and Kolomela Mine. This space allows us to dream bigger and help more children in need.”

This project is one of several joint initiatives between these three entities, demonstrating their shared dedication to fostering sustainable growth and meaningful impact in local communities. The Lesedi Solar Park Trust, through its partnership with the Social Change Assistance Trust (SCAT), continues to support projects like TCH that foster hope and build a stronger, more resilient future
