In a significant move towards fostering community participation, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust has announced the formation of a new advisory committee in Postmasburg. This committee is composed of four dedicated and community-focused individuals who will serve on a voluntary basis. The appointed members are Mr. Christo Sehako, Mr. Thomas Goeieman, Ms. Jade-Lee Naidoo, Mr. Tebelelo Moemedi, and Mr. Danzel Rademan.

“The appointment of an advisory committee is a response to initial community engagements in 2016,” explains Sinazo Nkwelo, Lesedi Solar Park Trust program director.

“During those engagements, community members suggested that they would benefit from an advisory committee advising a community trustee. The committee would provide broad community perspective to enable the trustee to adequately represent them at board level. The appointment of this committee honours that community input.”

Ms. Brongene Cloete, Community Trustee in Postmasburg was delighted to introduce her new advisory committee: “As the Circuit Manager for Education, Mr. Sehako brings a wealth of experience in educational administration and a strong commitment to enhancing educational opportunities within the community.”

“A respected community member from Groenwater, Mr. Goeieman is known for his active involvement and deep connections within the local community.”

“Representing Jenn Haven, Ms. Naidoo is a dynamic community member with a passion for social upliftment and community engagement.”

“Serving as an Assistant Probation Officer in the Department of Social Development, Mr. Moemedi offers valuable insights into social welfare and the needs of vulnerable populations.”

“A social worker from Newtown, Mr. Rademan brings a strong background in social work and a dedication to supporting and advocating for community members in need.”

The Selection Process

The selection of the advisory committee members followed a public call for candidates who are residents of the Tsantsabane Municipality and are over 18 years old. The Trust sought individuals actively engaged in key community sectors such as education, social development, and health. Ideal candidates were expected to possess strong community networks, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to community flourishing.
