Last month, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust took a significant step towards strengthening its commitment to education and community development by coordinating the Public School Partnerships (PSP) gathering. This two-day event brought together representatives from various schools, including Danielskuil Intermediate, H.T.T Bidi Memorial, Ratang Thuto High School, Danielskuil High School, Kuilsville High School, and numerous other stakeholders with a shared mission – to uplift local schools and provide them with valuable resources. The gathering began in Danielskuil on 29/08/2023 and ended on a high note in Postmasburg on 30/08/2023, with many school representatives showing interest and eagerness.

The primary objective of the gathering was to facilitate site visits to some of the participating schools, allowing service providers to gain firsthand insights into the challenges these institutions face. By immersing themselves in the school environment, service providers could better understand the unique needs and circumstances of each institution.

During the event, service providers had the opportunity to showcase the resources and expertise they could offer to the schools. This included presentations on the services they could provide and how they could collaborate with the educational institutions. However, what sets this initiative apart is the empowering approach it adopts. Service providers in attendance Included Common-Good, Acorn and Education Ally.

Instead of imposing solutions on the schools, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust puts the decision-making power squarely in the hands of the school representatives. This approach emphasizes collaboration over coercion, allowing the schools to ask questions, seek clarification, and make informed decisions about which service provider is best suited to meet their specific requirements.

The Lesedi Solar Park Trust’s commitment to working with people, rather than simply for them, underscores its dedication to fostering genuine partnerships that empower local schools and communities. By fostering these collaborations, the trust is not only making a positive impact on education but also contributing to the overall development and well-being of the regions it serves.

In an era where partnerships between public institutions and private entities are increasingly vital for sustainable progress, the Lesedi Solar Park Trust’s PSP gathering serves as a good example of how organizations can come together to create a brighter future for all. Through open dialogue, cooperation, and a shared vision, the Trust is helping to ensure that students in these schools have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
