Reducing financial leakage

The Lesedi Solar Park Trust exists for the benefit of the communities surrounding the Lesedi Solar Power Plant, as such, at every opportunity we seek to reduce financial leakage and prioritise internal circulation of funds within the communities themselves.

This includes encouraging our programs to go beyond employing from within the communities to favouring local suppliers at every opportunity. Where possible, and within reason, contractors and suppliers are sourced from within the communities as a means of further investing in Black people living within these areas. Where the required skills do not exist within the areas, creative solutions should be sought whereby contractors mentor local youth and upskill them in the process of the particular project.
