Community response fund

While the majority of Lesedi Solar Park Trust’s funding goes toward our mission to help end intergenerational poverty in our communities through the implementation of interventions from pre-conception to career, we recognise that these communities also experience short term needs which, while not necessarily aligning with our long-term strategy, are still very important to people. As such, the Lesedi Response Fund was launched in 2022.

The Letsatsi Response Fund aims to provide one-time funding that benefits the communities of Postmasburg, Groenwater, Skeifontein, Maremane, and Jenn-Haven in the Tsantsabane Local Municipality, and Danielskuil and Lime Acres in the Kgatelopele Local Municipality through two primary forms of assistance.

Firstly, we offer rapid disaster and emergency relief grants to swiftly address critical situations. Secondly, we provide opportunity grants for community pride initiatives and access to empowerment opportunities. Each request is carefully considered by the Response Fund Committee and approved or rejected at their discretion, following a due diligence process.

Please note that the Response Fund does not provide funding for the following purposes: funerals, food, operational or program costs for local organizations, operational costs for ECDs (Early Childhood Development centres), operational or start-up costs for SMMEs, individual requests that do not benefit the broader community, and entertainment or leisure requests.
